Westwood, MA - The discussion is called "The Fixed Income Homeowner Blues" and with the current financial markets in severe turmoil, it may be an unfortunate hit with too many familiar with the chorus.
How do homeowners on fixed incomes deal with a doubling of heating costs? A doubling of medicine and health care? Sharp increases in food prices? These are the questions John Brodrick will pose at the largest Senior Expo in the metro west area in Medfield on Nov. 8th.
Brodrick, president of Your Home For Lifesm, a Westwood reverse mortgage company will join State Senator Brian A. Joyce (D-Norfolk-Bristol) for a discussion at the Senior Expo on what is happening to elder homeowners who thought they were set for life, but quickly found income deflation and portfolio shrinkage are challengting their chances to remain in their own homes while they are physically active.
"We suspect there is a rolling shock wave quietly hitting many senior homeowners, leaving some with what seems like no way out," Brodrick said. "Our elders deserve better. They shouldn't have to hunker down in their homes and live in anxiety and fear during their retirement years. America can do better than that."
Brodrick is one of the founders and the co-sponsor of the Senior Expo to be held 9 am - 1 pm with registration beginning at 8:30 am at THE CENTER in Medfield on Ice House Road. "My business is with people 62 and older and I'd like to help as many as possible by getting them the right informaion," Brodrick said.
The expo is chock-o-block full of nutritionists, financial and fitness experts as well as state officials and legislators who will focus on long term strategies and solutions for elders.
